Neder Schwarze Anna
Brewery: Neder
Town: Forchheim
Style: Schwarzbier
Color: dark brown with ruby highlights
Head: off white, creamy
Nose: malty
Body: full-bodied, medium carbonation
Palate: roasty, malty
Finish: clean, dry and bittersweet
Served: on tap at the Neder Keller at Annafest
Impression: A hard beer to pin down and an unusual one for Franconia. It’s a Schwarzbier and as such, on the roasty side. This one has a Franconian flare to it though in the long dry finish. First time I had it, I fell in love. Second time, I was disappointed. This time, I rekindled the romance. Still my favorite at the Annafest.
