Wagner-Bräu Bock

amber beer in mug
Wagner-Bräu Bock

Brewery: Wagner-Bräu
Town:
Kemmern
Style:
Dopplebock
Color:
deep amber
Head:
tan, dense
Nose:
malty but a hint of roast and hops
Body:
full-bodied, low carbonation
Palate:
a big malty flavor with a bit of fruitiness and roast
Finish: dryish, slightly bitter

Served: on tap at the brewery’s Keller

Impression: I was just here for a quick lunch stop and wouldn’t normally go for such a big beer at that hour but the kellerbier was a bit flat that day so decided to give it a try. I was glad I did. It was more of a Dopplebock from southern Bavaria than a true Franconian bock but it was very well made and better than many of its southern counterparts. It was full of both roast and a nice dry fruitiness, and had a very clean finish.
