Privatbrauerei Gessner dates back to and has been in the same family since 1622. That’s 14 generations. It’s also the largest brewery in Thuringia. They produce a small but fair range of beers but sadly do not have a brewery tap. The closest thing you will find is SpielLust Erlebnisrestaurant in the Sonneberg train station. A friend who was traveling around Thuringia brought me their Festbier quite a few years ago. On investigation, I found it was in Franconian Thuringia. So, I bought bottles whenever I saw them. I was happy to finally find their beers on tap in town, oddly not so common.

Beer: Gessner Original Festbier, Gessner Alt-Sumbacher Dunkel, Gessner Premium Pils, Gessner Bock Dunkel, Gessner Doppelbock Hell.
