Impression: A friend was in Thüringen and was nice enough to bring this back to me, though hadn’t realized it was from part of Franconian Thüringen. The brewery has been on my radar for a few years but with no brewery tap, I haven’t found the motivation to go that far. This rich Festbier, more in the mold of a Märzen, just may do it. Gorgeous pour with a deep amber hue and ample off-white head. The nose and palate are richly malty with a nice spicy element. Not dry or particularly bitter, the finish manages to escape being cloying nonetheless. Thanks, Franz.
