I’ve always liked the Lieberth Keller on the Kreuzberg and their tasty Kellerbier. I’d say it’s my favorite Keller on “the hill.” I went to their Gasthof in the village this past spring for the first time and really liked it as well. I knew I had to make more of an effort to check out their Dorf Keller and so glad I did as it is yet another winner from Lieberth.

Lieberth Kellerbier & the playground at the idyllic little Bierkeller

It wasn’t large but what it lacked in size, it more than made up for in atmosphere and idyllic leafy splendor. The small playground out back was testament to it being popular with families and one of the great things about most Bierkellers in Franconia. It wasn’t late but it was slow due to COVID-19 restrictions and having just reopened. It was also getting cool as the sun was nearly down so we opted for some hot food and Kummelbraten did the trick. This tasty roast pork dish features lots of caraway seeds, something we both love. I’ll have to say, I think the Kellerbier here is even better than up on the Kreuzberg even though both are served via gravity dispense barrel.

tasty Kummelbraten & my wife picking the food up at the dispensary

Luckily, we’d made our move fast as the food closed down soon after we got ours. The beer dispensary closed ten minutes later, luckily after I got another beer too!

Beers on tap from gravity dispense barrel: Kellerbier.
