Distelhausen is an unassuming town in the Tauber Franken, a region of Franconia which lies largely in Baden Württemberg. It’s a pretty area of rolling hills with the Tauber river running through it, more noted for wine than beer but Distelhausen just happens to be home to the Distelhäuser Brauerei. There is surprisingly good public transportation as well as a good network of hiking/biking paths. Read about how to explore: On a slow train to Franconian Baden Württemberg.

While it’s unlikely I’d have ever made it here if not for the locally renowned brewery, it’s certainly reason enough to venture this way. Their restaurant is top notch and has a full range of their beers on tap.
