Founded in 1850 and still very much a family enterprise, the small but robust Roppelt brewery is one not to be missed. Though their Keller gets most of the attention and deserves every bit of that praise, the brewery offers a place in the colder months to enjoy the same elements, aside from the shady chestnut trees! Add to this, the seasonal beer offerings and easy accessibility and it’s another not to be missed place.
It took me awhile to get to this nicely updated brewpub but glad I finally did. They had a fair crowd even on a bleak Monday in November but to be fair, they had a full range of warm dishes including a couple carp dishes as this region is noted for it. I only had an hour between buses so opted for an easy to eat Schweinebraten and also got both of the seasonal beers on tap, their Bock and Festbier. Everything was great and I’ll make sure to get back here again in winter.
