Founded in 1886 and in the Lohr family ever since, it began as a half-timbered pub which brewed its beer in the local communal brewery but fermented and lagered at the pub. In 1933, Ferdinand Lohr took over but brewing was suspended during WWII. His wife ran the restaurant while he served in the military. With the communal brewery in disrepair, their beer was brewed at Brauerei Wolfshöhe for quite some time until the rebuilding of their own brewery was completed in 1956. The the current Lohrs continue to produce and bottle a fair assortment of traditional styles using local ingredients as much as possible. Thankfully, their is already young blood ready and willing to take over the family business.
