Founded in 1875, the brewery has been in the same family since its inception. Friedmann’s suffers by being compared to neighbor Lindebräu just up the street but it’s the first brewery you see when walking into town and has a nice vantage point with a view of the medieval town gate. It also has a fine outside sitting area, a cozy interior and a more extensive hot food menu. If the beer doesn’t quite match up with their competitor, they are still serviceable and worth a try. This is one place where the lighter colored beers seem tastier with the Pils my personal favorite.

Their tasty Schäuferla washed down with their serviceable brews
I’ve always made a stop at Friedmann’s when doing the trek. The first time was a gorgeous day and the Biergarten area was a perfect place to enjoy a very good Schäuferla (pork shoulder). Recently, I enjoyed the lovely interior bar area but didn’t have time to eat.
