Friedmann Sigi’s Lager
Brewery: Friedmann
Town: Gräfenberg
Style: Kellerbier
Color: unfiltered light amber
Head: rocky, white
Nose: slight grain
Body: medium
Palate: malty, fruity, touch of honey, underlying hoppiness
Finish: clean, bittersweet
Served: on tap at the Biergarten zum Bergschlösschen above the brewery
Impression: This was the first time I finally made it to Friedmann’s Biergarten above the actual brewery, just up the street from the Bräustüberl. It’s got a great view and can’t wait to get back there. I was not expecting much from Sigi’s Lager but was surprised to find it a fairly drinkable brew, with some honey and grain in the otherwise dryish fruity mix. Not sure I’d go out of my way to have it again but I would be more than happy to drink it at this little Biergarten with a view.
