Café Esspress Bamberg Food

Café Esspress Bamberg offers an array of dishes, featuring full breakfasts, salads, burgers and bowls, as well as some well-chosen more traditional Franconian dishes. If you’re coming with a divergent group, everyone will certainly find something on their extensive menu. Both vegetarian and vegan diners are well-catered to. We had a hard time deciding, so we split two meals. Both were on a specials menu, a rather large Schnitzel smothered in Chantarelle mushrooms and the Austrian favorite, Backhendl. Both were excellent, though the Backhendl seemed a trifle small. It was more than compensated for by the Schnitzel.

The beer & other beverages

Café Esspress Bamberg has a large variety of beverages, and draws a young crowd in with both regular cocktails and those of the alcohol-free variety. There is also quite a line-up of hot drinks as well as wines. We came for the beer, as usual. Along with Spezial Lager and Zirndorfer Kellerbier, they had their own beer called Störchen Bier. It was a former brewery in Bamberg so they decided to bring the brand back. It was initially brewed by Sternla right in town but now Hopfenrebell in Bad Staffelstein is doing the honors.

Störchen Bier

Our first visit to Café Esspress Bamberg was a resounding success. The courtyard was as lovely as we’d imagine when we first spotted it from the street while walking by. Service was friendly. There were tons of choices in every department. I’m sure we’ll be back again.

Beers: Störchen Bier, Spezial Lager & Zirndorfer Kellerbier on tap. Bottled Sabaldus Weizen. Alcohol free: Tucher Weizen, Zirndorfer Hell.
