Impression: Kommunbräu Sechsämterland Heinrichs Buchenrauchdoppelbock is an unfiltered chestnut example of the style. This massive smoke Doppelbock clocks in a 9% according the brewer serving. Due to its dry finish it drinks quite a bit lighter. There’s only light smoke in the nose and the palate. It’s richly malty as you’d expect. The lingering finish is bittersweet but really nicely dry. This was definitely in the top three beers sampled that day for me, and many of my fellow tasters. This small brewery from Selb was founded in 2020 and promotes the history and culture of local brewing traditions. They do not have regular festivals but I will seek one out hopefully soon
