History & atmosphere

Wirtshaus Lämmle has a storied past. First mentioned as Gasthaus zum Weißen Lamm in 1594, it only took its current name in 1925. A massive WWII bombing destroyed the popular Inn and much of the town in 1945. After being rebuilt, it thrived in the 1950s but eventually closed in 1973. The rebuilt structure from 1983 continues the popular tradition of this cozy guesthouse. The traditional interior features seasonal decorations, adding a nice touch to the dark wood dominated room. A blue tile oven rounds out the picture.

Wirtshaus Lämmle food & beer

Wirtshaus Lämmle features the beers from the Distelhäuser Brauerei. This nearby brewery from the Tauber Franken region of Baden-Württemburg is a big player in Würzburg. They produce a large range of traditional beers. If you can’t make it to the source, this is a great place to sample quite a few on tap. As you might expect, there is a decent assortment of wine, as well. The menu features typical Franconian cuisine with a more than its share of chicken, fish, beef and even vegetarian dishes.

tasty Landbier & Leberkäs

I had a big day ahead of me, so I only had time for a Landbier Dunkel, which was well-poured and in fine shape. I opted for the Leberkäs mit Ei, which was quite tasty and not overly big. Service was friendly and efficient. I’d certainly return for another meal at Wirtshaus Lämmle if in town. They were quite busy for a mid-week lunch so it appears their future looks bright.

Beers on tap at Wirtshaus Lämmle:

Distelhäuser Premium Pils, Distelhäuser Landbier Dunkel, Distelhäuser Helles, Distelhäuser Hefeweißbier, Seasonal specialty beer on rotation when available.
