Founded in 2004 as the Sudhaus, the gorgeous red brick brewery was the home of Haller Löwenbräu from its building in 1903 to 1987, when brewing shifted to the current much larger operation just outside the city gates. Prior to this, brewing was done in the current brewery tap, Zum Löwen.

The current complex houses a variety of eateries and events rooms including a terrace with a fantastic view of the old town. The menu is decidedly upscale and appears a great location for special events. I did not have time to pay it a visit but it’s great that the beautiful old building has been kept up and with great purpose no less. Extra bonus as there was a nesting stork on the brewing chimney! I also did not have time to check out the new facility just outside the old town gates. I hope to rectify both on my next visit to Schwäbisch Hall.

Beers: Hall Sudhaus Hell, Hall Sudhaus Dunkel, Hall Sudhaus Hefeweizen
