Lauf an der Pegnitz lies in the Nürnberger Land country of Middle Franconia. As the name suggests, it’s on the Pegnitz River. It’s a pretty area of rolling green hills which is easily reached by frequent trains from Nürnberg. Brauerei Simon is the town’s older brewery but upstart Bimberla is making waves and is what finally got me to take the trek. Their Biergarten on Kundenberg just north of the town proper is the gem in town.
