Founded in 976, Hersbruck is a cute if unassuming town in the Nürnberger Land county of Middle Franconia. With a smattering of charming half-timbered houses and a simple church, it’s hard to imagine its former prosperity as a stop on the Golden Route between Nürnberg and Prague or its darker past as home to a concentration camp during WWII.

It’s unlikely the average tourist will find themselves here but the beerwanderers amongst you might want to take the 15-30 minute train from Nürnberg to enjoy the beers of Bürgerbräu Hersbruck.
