Burgerbräu Stübla history
Efendi in Bamberg opened in 2010 and is the latest incarnation of the Bürgerbräu Stübla. The largest of Bamberg’s breweries, Kaiserdom in nearby Gaustadt has a long history dating back to 1718. In 1910, the Wörner family bought up the then named Brauerei Müller. Brauerei Wörner soon became Bürgerbräu Gaustadt before settling on their current name. The Bürgerbräu Stübla was likely the premier outlet for their beers in Bamberg though there appears to be little written confirmation. What is indisputable is there is no better place to sample the Kaiserdom beers on tap in Bamberg.

Kaiserdom beers on tap at Efendi
The beers & atmosphere
Efendi is cozy and there are remnants of its former self in the somewhat dated decor but there are plenty of modern, theme-appropriate touches to attract a sizeable dinner crowd. It has three Kaiserdom beers on tap: Pilsener, Kellerbier and Helles. We didn’t have time for the Helles but found both others well-poured and serviceable.

The food & service
Efendi has a varied menu with lots of grilled main courses and plenty of vegetarian options in the appetizer section. We opted to share one grilled chicken meal which was excellent. We also shared three appetizers. The white bean salad was our favorite. Service was quite swift and attentive. It was nice to see a real team working a full restaurant.
Efendi is quite busy, especially on weekends so making a reservation is a good idea. We showed up without one and were lucky to get a table for an hour. We look forward to having another meal here soon.
Beers: Kaiserdom Pilsener, Kaiserdom Kellerbier, Kaiserdom Helles on tap. Bottled Kaiserdom Weissbier, Klosterbräu Schwarzla and two Kaiserdom alcohol free beers.
