Bad Staffelstein as a municipality boasts 11 breweries currently in operation, the Old Town center of the town proper was devoid of any for quite some time. When I first strolled through the charming half-timbered strewn streets in 2002, all I saw were former breweries. This obviously led me to seek beery pleasures in the scenic countryside “outside of town” but of course I often found myself in town for transportation purposes if nothing else. Happily, there are now a couple of breweries in the town center and I’ve discovered a couple of other little gems worth stopping in for a beer. Bad Staffelstein makes a good base for exploring the area north of Bamberg if looking for something different. The other villages which make up the municipality do as well.
