Rossach lies in the Coburg county of Upper Franconia. It is a small village with only a handful of notable buildings including the Lutheran Church Oswald and a few half-timbered houses. One of these is the reason for the beer tourist to make their way to the otherwise unassuming village: the communal brewery Brauhaus Rossach.

Brauhaus Rossach was founded in 1711 and is housed in a beautifully restored half-timbered building that is over 300 years old. The members have brewing rights which have been handed down over the centuries. The beer is for their own consumption outside of festivals.
stopping by the Stammtisch with a friend
I was lucky to get an invite from a good friend who is a member of a communal brewery in Lower Franconia. The various communal breweries generally have good ties with each other so they invite each other to visit. In this case, it was a Stammtisch event where the members just meet for a beer in the evening.
They served their Hausbier gravity dispensed and it was a lovely balanced rustic beer. I only had two Seidla so I hope to return for one of their festivals this summer.
Genuss am Brauhaus 2026
Brauhaus Rossach holds a very well-run festival. I was happy to return in May of 2026 for it. It was quite a difference experience to say the least. We arrived right in the thick of things and the small village was full of people enjoying not only the great beer but also a large array of cold and warm foods.

Along with the typical Bratwurst the area is renowned for, there were more elaborate dishes. They had already run out of pulled pork. I quite enjoyed a homemade Gerupfter with Kochkäse, which came with excellent quality bread. The beer was spot on, as well.
