Max-Bräu Keller is a small atmospheric and shady Bierkeller with a scenic view. It’s one of the best, especially on a hot summer day. It’s little wonder their brewpub in town is closed during the Keller months. It would be the rare person to pick it over this Bierkeller paradise with ample shade from by leafy trees.

Max-Bräu Keller beer and food:

Due to the combination of very limited opening hours and even more limited bus service, it took me ages to finally get to the Max-Bräu Keller. I’d been to Hermann’s just next door a few times but Max’s was never open. It’s smaller than its neighbor but has a choice spot overlooking the countryside right from the main level. Their beer has a bit of a confusing process. They brew the wort is at Brauerei Zehendner in nearby Mönchsambach according to their own recipe. This is brought to their Keller and pub in the village, where they pitch the yeast. After fermentation is finished, the continue to lager it there and serve it directly from the tanks. It was excellent.

 a gorgeous Kellerbier & tasty Max-Platte

If I’d make my way out here on a Friday by bus, I would have had only about a half hour to drink one beer before having to return. So, I’m very grateful a friend gave me a lift as I had enough time to a have a few of their lovely Kellerbiers. I also had a very tasty mixed meat plate. The people in the Ausschank were super nice and were always asking how I liked everything. I can’t wait to go back to Max-Bräu Keller.
