Founded in 1836 by the son of hop farmers, Brauerei Zeltner grew to prominence in Nürnberg in the mid-1800s but sadly closed during and was then destroyed by bombs in WWII. Efforts to resuscitate the brewery failed and the current location on Emmericher Straße is strictly a wholesaler for their brand, which is now brewed by Tucher in nearby Fürth. They supply numerous restaurants in town with the flagship being the Zeltner Bierhaus.

a nicely done modern but traditional interior
The small Biergarten out front was closed due to impending showers but the interior was nicely done and I was here for a quick beer none-the-less. Since I’d come for the Zeltner Vollbier, that’s what I got but they had two guest beers on tap, as well. I couldn’t resist the Bimberla U as a local said it was the beer to get.

Zeltner Vollbier & Bimberla Ungespundet
I’d just eaten but they had a full small menu which looked good and it seemed a popular place for lunch. On weekends, they do interesting looking Franconian Tapas. Though not a must go beer-wise, I’d go back for a meal if in town.
Beers on tap: Zeltner Vollbier and two guest beers, such as Bimberla Ungespundet and Stöckel Spezial Dunkel.
