Founded 1597, the Schloßbrauerei Reckendorf has a long and involved history. With the destruction of the castle, the brewery and Inn were all that remained. Schlößbräu Reckendorf has been run by the same family since 1938. It was renovated to include more rooms and its own butcher shop in 1997. I’ve not managed to get inside. It was closed for a wedding the first time I ventured to Reckendorf and this past time, it was booked out with the town’s Kerwa in full swing. A friend had the Bockbraten and said it was the best goat he’d ever had outside of Greece. It seems a visit is in order.
