This unassuming local is not far from the center but well off the beaten tourist path. The owner is into memorabilia and Americana so it should come as no surprise that much of it features American music, mostly from the 50s. The menu is heavy on burgers, steaks and pizzas but we found gebratene Kloße buried in the lighter dishes section. I noticed it had Gutmann beer on their sign and on reading the menu from outside, I also saw Huppendorfer Vollbier and Greif Hell.

a surprising Greif Rauchbier & cozy interior
The first time in, we found out they also have one guest beer on tap and it was the new Rauchbier from Greif so gave it a try and it was better than expected. Most people seemed to be drinking the Huppi. The next time in, I was hoping to resample the Greif Rauch but it was already gone and he had the Greif Schlöbberla on. I’d never seen this on tap so also gave it a go.

another new for me Greif beer & gebratene Kloße
The owner is friendly and it seems he and his wife do everything so it it’s busy, be patient. The meal we had was wonderful and since it’s a dish we love and is increasingly hard to find, it’s great to have a place with it on their regular menu. It was a very big portion and well-priced. The beer selection is certainly a decent one and with a rotating guest beer, worth stopping back in for too.
Beers: Greif Hell, Huppendorfer Vollbier & one guest beer (such as Greif Rauchbier & Greif Schlöbberla) on tap. Bottled Gutmann Weizen & Dunkelweizen.
