StreuBräu is located in Fischbach bei Nürnberg. This suburb is about 9 km from Nürnberg and is easily reached with the frequent S-2 which take 15 minutes. It’s a typical residential area so other than the brewery, it’s an unlikely place to make your way to.

How did StreuBräu start?
StreuBräu was founded in 2014 by hobby brewer Hans Reißner in a small former slaugherhouse on Streubruck street. It soon outgrew its modest facility and became a cooperative of like-minded beer lovers. The current operation began brewing at the end of 2019.
The brewery mostly produces beer for direct sale at their store on Altenfurter Straße not far from the facility. Their beers are also offered at a limited number of outlets in Nürnberg. Please check their website for the most current options. The brewery itself is open for occasional events. I attended a late Stärke Antrinken event on January 10th, where they had two of their beers on tap. I arrived right at the 11:00 start and it was already buzzing. It was getting quite busy by the time I left 90 minutes later.

I started off with their Dunkles Kellerbier and was immediately glad I’d made the effort to stop by in the less than ideal weather. I got some Weisswurst to stem the tide, with a Heller Bock on the horizon.

Their Heller Streubock was next up on deck. It’s quite traditional and nicely only 6.5%. Most Bocks are clocking in at much higher ABVs and I found this one refreshing. I nonetheless got a Bratwurst Semmel since I knew I’d break my two beer self-imposed limit.

I picked up a bottle of their flagship StreuBräu Lagerbier and the StreuBräu Fischbacher Keller Drungk to bring home. The people were very friendly and I’d not hesitate to go to another event.
