History of Scheunenbräu

Scheunenbräu was founded in 2022 by three friends with a passion for home brewing. It’s scenically situated on a pretty lake with a small castle across from it. There is no pub serving their beer but they hope to open one in the near future. They are also have regular events which they list on their informative website. They are active on social media and I found them very responsive to inquires online. About the only negative is though easily reached by bus during the week, there is no service on weekends and holiday. Understandably, that is when the events take place.

One of their premier events is their Brauereifest. It takes place on May 1st so there are unfortunately no buses. My wife graciously offered to drive but it’s about 2 hour walk from Coburg otherwise. It was super well-organized with quite a few tasty snacks. The lakeside seating was fantastic and with a glorious weather day, about as perfect as could be. We split a Weißwurstfrühstuck and Weißer Käse. The pickle was superb and they also had Gerupfter.

Their two flagship beers were on tap, both perfectly poured into branded glassware. I really couldn’t decide which I liked best but both the Fränkisch Hell and Scheunle were excellent. Thankfully, they had an excellent assortment of cakes for my wife.
