Hummels history
Hummels Keller is a former historic storage cave used to lager beer from Brauerei Hummel in the mid-1800s. Though lagering moved to the brewery with the advent of refrigeration, the Bierkeller remained in use as a beer dispensary. Ran independently from the brewery but by a family member, it sadly closed in 2017. Thankfully, the local fire department decided to step in and do the necessary renovations to bring the old Bierkeller back to life.

Hummels Keller Kellerfest 2026
Hummels Keller made a miraculous comeback on the first weekend of September 2026 with first annual Kellerfest. As you might expect, locals flocked back to their much beloved Keller. It looked like it had never fallen into disrepair and those behind the restoration should win some kind of medal for bringing this traditional old Keller back to its residents. With some luck, Hummels Keller will return to at least some of its former glory.

The beer & food
They served Hummel Kellbier from gravity dispense at the first annual Kellerfest. It was in great form. There were also bottles of Hummel Weißbier on offer. Hummels Keller offered typical Brotzeit dishes, as well as a truck with Bratwurst. Everything was really good quality and the bread and pretzels were very fresh. We overheard talk of the Keller being open more often next season. It definitely sounds like it will be an annual once a year event at the very least. Since the fire department are not affiliated with the brewery, and members come from both the Hummel and Wagner familes, they will alternate the beer each festival.
