Ammerndorf is the kind of pleasant market town you drive through thinking it might be nice to get out and stretch your legs and have a small peek but you never do.

Well if you like small breweries, you just might. Easily reached by bus from a northern station of Nürnberg, it’s worth making the beery pilgrimage to Dorn-Bräu where Ammerndorfer beers are a Middle Franconian favorite. The brewery conveniently has a shop selling not only cases but also single bottles. Their restaurant “Zur Sonne” is a across the street.
