Though confined to the courtyard of the old brewery, this little Biergarten is blessed with a fair amount of mature trees and though right on a road, it maintains a good level of peace and quiet. Tables are nicely spread out and. Beer and food are self-service but all nicely clustered right at the entrance.

Food & beer at Reckendorfer Kerwa
Reckedorf was at the tail end of their Kerwa so the Biergarten experience was a bit confusing. Evidently from 16:00 to 18:00, you could get your beer as you normally would but after 18:00, you had to go to the Festzelt up the road. Perhaps odder was the fact you had to get your food in the Biergarten if you were drinking in the tent. Needless to say, no one seemed happy about the set-up. I’d been thwarted in my previous attempts to visit so I grinned and beared it. The Pfefferbeißer were quite good but the mixed meat plate wasn’t the freshest. The bread was quite dry. I’ll write it off to the situation as they do have their own butcher but I won’t be as antsy to return as I might have been otherwise.

The Kerwabier was a surprise and pleasant enough once I got over the disappointment of having to walk up the road to get it. Getting the second one, necessary with so much food, would have probably really killed the deal but my friends graciously got me one while I watched our table. Other tables sat without beer, something they wouldn’t have likely done if the beer was available in the Biergarten.
I’ll try to return to the Schlossgarten Reckendorf next year on a regular weekend and imagine the results will be a lot more satisfactory. This winter, I’ll try to into the pub for a hot meal, as well.
