Along Stephansberg there are numerous Kellers and former Kellers. These were initially sites of the extraction of more natural cleaning products before chemicals came into play. That was prior to their now obvious use for refrigeration of beer was realized. The rest is history and the Stöhrenkeller was one of them. Sadly, no longer an outdoor venue aside from the few tables out front, it is nonetheless a lovely place for a beer and meal. The interior is cozy and manages to be both traditional and modern all in one quirky trendy go.

a surprisingly nice Helles & lovely interior
Their small menu used to be more tilted to an Asian flair but they still feature a pretty mean Pad Thai to augment their more traditional Franconian items. Their large pan-friend Schnitzel is justifiably popular too. Along with stalwart Keesmann Herren Pils is a rotating Gänstaller beer. I found the Helles Lagerbier went quite well with the Pad Thai.

a lovely Griess Kellerbier & Pad Thai
Their guest beers are always well chosen and on recent visits, they’ve had the Griess Kellerbier in quite good form. If looking for a change of pace, this place will certainly be one of no regrets.
Beers: Keesmann Herren Pils, a rotating Gänstaller beer (such as Helles Lagerbier) & one guest beer (such as Griess Kellerbier).
