The Brauer-Vereinigung in Pegnitz was founded in 1923 to help combat hard economic times, with the smaller breweries in town pooling their resources. It sadly closed and the beer is being brewed at the nearby Heberbräu. The Ponfick family was one of those in the group and it was headed by Fritz Ponfick from 1967 until his retirement in 2001. This pub is possibly where their original brewery was and is obviously connected historically. In either case, it’s a good place to have the Böheim beer in an authentic setting. I only had time for a quick Helles but would return to sample the beers they only had in bottle the the next time in town. I snapped a quick pick of the empty interior but we sat outside as it was a sunny warm day.

a quick Böheim Helles in Pegnitz
The woman pouring the beers was friendly enough and I’d stop back in if in town, possibly grab something to eat as it gets good reviews for simple food.
Beers: Böheim Helles on tap. Bottled Pils & Altfränkisch Landbier.
Back to Pegnitz.
