Eckerts is an eclectic pub with a scenic riverside location, popular especially for their all day breakfast options. They have an intriguing menu with some twists on the traditional. For the beer-oriented diner, they have a nice line-up of beers on tap including a Gänstaller-brewed house beer. We’ve been walking by it for many years.

Eckerts Kellerbier & the view
We’d eaten lunch but stopped in specifically to have a beer and hadn’t realized there was additional seating out back upstairs with just as good a view as the front area we’d always walked by. We split their Kellerbier and a Gänstaller Zwickel Pils.

Gänstaller Zwickel Pils & Apfestrudel
We liked it so much we decided to share an Apfelstrudel and it was excellent. We hope to have a full meal there on a future Bamberg visit. I need to grab some photos of the impressive interior too.
A client of mine visited Eckerts on my suggestion and reported back about a change of beers so I returned to check it out for myself. The Kellerbier is no longer brewed by Gänstaller but by the Drei Kronen in Memmelsdorf (and was actually better). They also had a low alcohol Sommerbier (3.5%) from Brauerei Sauer, which was lovely. I finally tried the Weiherer Zwickerla Dunkel on tap too.
