Entlas Bräu Sven Helles
Brewery: Entlas Bräu
Town: Erlangen
Style: cold-hopped Helles
Color: in Krug so no visuals, likely unfiltered golden
Head: white, rocky, lasting
Nose: citrus hops
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, hop forward, lemony
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at the Entla’s Keller
Impression: Entlas Bräu Sven Helles is an unfiltered golden example of the style. The rocky white head is formidable and lasting. Citrus hops fill the nose for an enticing start. The hop forward palate has a lemony note but is well-balanced. The lingering finish is semi-dry and semi-bitter. I’m not generally a huge fan of Craft Beer influence in Germany but this one is intriguing and ultimately more enjoyable than its more traditional Brudi.
