Impression: Köslauer Kellerbier Jose Edition is a gorgeous unfiltered amber with the kind of balanced dryness that is increasingly and sadly rare. Jose explained that many of the local communal breweries disperse the wort to members, who pitch their own yeast and lager at home. This results in multiple interpretations of the beer. His brewery does it onsite, leading to a lot less variation. There’s often leftover wort, which they chuck. Jose decided to take some, pitch his own yeast and lager it himself. This bottle is from that batch and I was privileged to get one. It’s perhaps even drier than the one generally produced. It’s a true example of a pure Franconian beer.
Back to the beer list.

And a great looking mug.
They really did a nice job on that design. Just wish the name was in white with black border like the rest of it. It’s especially important since nearly all of their beers are dark.
Sounds tasty. It is a rare day I find kellerbier in Florida store or otherwise.
Definitely a style meant to be drunk in the situation, preferably from the barrel. This bottle was filled right at the source and was drunk very promptly. It would have likely been sour in a couple of weeks.
