Kauzen Bock
Brewery: Kauzen-Bräu
Town: Ochsenfurt
Style: Heller Bock 7.1%
Color: deep golden
Head: white, creamy
Nose: rich malt, faint grain, a touch of honey
Body: medium to full
Palate: malty, light grain, a hint of honey
Finish: lingering, bittersweet
Served: from a bottle bought in the area.
Impression: Kauzen-Bräu Bock is a rich deep golden example of the style. There’s a touch of honey in the nose and palate of the predominantly malty palate. The lingering finish is bittersweet and not overly sticky. It’s not bad if a bit on the industrial side.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
