Impression: Zum Löwenbräu Frischhopfen Pils is their October specialty beer. It’s a wet hopped Pils with an unfiltered golden hue and rocky white head. The nose is full of spicy hops and the body is effervescent without being fizzy. The hop forward palate has plenty of malt backbone for good balance. The finish is clean, semi-dry and semi-bitter.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
