Impression: Schlenkerla Lagerbier from tank on the brewery tour was a bucket list beer for me. I had expected to sample their flagship Märzen. The person who had arranged the tour had other ideas. I was happy to switch to this particular beer as I’d never had it on tap. It’s unfortunately never available at the pub. It was fairly far along in its lagering stage so not unlike previous encounters. I would say that overall there was a smoothness that made it quite moreish. It confirmed what I’ve always felt, that if this beer were available from the barrel at the pub, it would be quite popular.

And your latest post added a new word to my vocabulary, Rich, especially related to beer. I didn’t know what “moreish” meant. According to AI, “Moreish beer refers to a type of beer that has a very pleasant taste, making you want to drink more. It is often described as having a balance of tropical hops and crisp, bready malts, creating a delightful drinking experience. This term is commonly used to describe beers that are sessionable and enjoyable, often with flavors that are both refreshing and satisfying.” Does that comport with your opinion?
It still comes up as a misspelled word when I type it but I’ve been doing it so long, I refuse to give it up. I guess everyone has their own idea of what beers are moreish but for me, I like a finish that entices another. I think if a beer is too bitter, I won’t but if there isn’t enough hops in the mix, I won’t either.
