Schwanen-Bräu Kerwabier
Brewery: Schwanen-Bräu
Town: Ebing
Style: Festbier dunkel
Color: unfiltered chestnut
Head: off-white, creamy
Nose: richly malty, hoppy
Body: medium to full
Palate: richly malty, firm hops
Finish: lingering, dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at the brewery’s Kerwa 2025
Impression: Schwanen-Bräu Kerwabier has a gorgeous chestnut hue and off-white creamy head. This is one of their more richly malty beers but there’s always plenty of hops in their mix. This Kerwa edition of their Vollbier is no exception. The newish young brewmaster looks to be shaking things up a bit and with good results.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
