Brauerei Haberstumpf Rubin
Brewery: Haberstumpf
Town: Trebgast
Style: Dunkel/Schwarzbier 5.1%
Color: unfiltered mahogany
Head: tan, creamy, rocky
Nose: roasted malt
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, roast, malty, fair hopping
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at the brewery.
Impression: Brauerei Haberstumpf Rubin was one gorgeous pour with a deep mahogany hue and super formidable rocky tan head. This dark beauty is heading into Schwarzbier territory with a nice roasty palate that’s richly malty but not too sweet. The lingering finish is quite dry for the style, inviting another. Both beers I’ve sampled were quite malty without being overly sweet.
Next beer or back to the beer list.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
