Brauerei Weller Adam Weller’s Jean Paul
Brewery: Göller (contract for Brauerei Weller)
Town: Zeil am Main
Style: Vollbier dunkel 5.4%
Color: in Krug but unfiltered brown from one in a glass
Head: off-white, creamy
Nose: light grain, hint of roast
Body: medium, soft in Krug/fizzy in glass
Palate: balanced, light grain, hint of roast, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at Thalermühle in Erlangen.
Impression: Brewed for Weller using their family recipe by Göller in Zeil. There are plans for a full scale brewery but in the meantime, it’s a small scale kit with beers only available to members. The Dunkel initially was disappointing but it’s growing on me as it warms. Overall though it’s probably sitting around too long and doesn’t taste as fresh as the Hell. There’s a nice hint of roast and maybe a smidge of chocolate but despite being slightly drier it somehow seems less balanced.
Next beer or back to the beer list.
