Schmölzer Kellerseidla on tap
Brewery: Schmölzer Dorfbrauerei
Town: Schmölz (Küps)
Style: Kellerbier
Color: unfiltered amber
Head: off-white, thinning
Nose: light grain & roast
Body: medium, fizzy
Palate: balanced, dry, light grain, hint of roast, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, very slightly bitter
Served: on tap at Schmölzer Braugarten.
Impression: This is a lovely Biergarten out in the middle of nowhere. Much too fizzy a pour but a very dry example of the style. Though not overpowering taste-wise, the dryness is extremely enticing. There’s some grain and roast in the balanced mix but the overall impression is the dryness that invites another sip and another Seidla.
Next beer or back to the beer list.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
