Magnus Bräu Maibock from the tank
Brewery: Magnus Bräu
Town: Kasendorf
Style: Maibock
Color: unfiltered light amber
Head: ivory, creamy, chiffon-like
Nose: rich malt, dried fruit (apricot)
Body: full
Palate: richly malty, apricot, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, bittersweet
Served: zwickel from tank at Grüner Baum in Kasendorf.
Impression: Gorgeous slowly poured unfiltered amber Maibock with a creamy chiffon-like lasting head. The richly malty chewy palate is tinged with dried apricot. Subdued hops dry it out nicely in the lingering semi-dry bittersweet finish. This is one moreish Bock.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
