Scharpf Fastenbock
Scharpf Fastenbock

Brewery: Scharpf
Town:
Heilgersdorf (Seßlach)
Style:
Fastenbock 7-7.5%
Color: unfiltered amber

Head: off-white

Nose: toasted malt

Body: medium
to full
Palate: malty, roast

Finish: lingering

Served: on tap at the brewery‘s tap, the Weißes Roß

Impression: This wasn’t on the agenda on this given day but a friend was taking me to a communal brewery nearby and we were about 45 minutes early. Scharpf generally brews a Bock for Lent but I hadn’t been able to make it for in previous season. We stopped in for a quick one and I was excited to finally try this Bock from a brewery I generally quite like. It was nicely poured and looked promising but I found it quite unbalanced and far too malt forward, even for a Doppelbock. The finish lacked the dryness I find the best exhibit and surely what I personally look for.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
