Lang Bräu Festbier
Brewery: Lang Bräu
Town: Schönbrunn
Style: Festbier 5.5%
Color: deep golden
Head: off-white, rocky, chiffon-like
Nose: richly malty, floral hops
Body: full
Palate: balanced, richly malty, fair hopping
Finish: lingerin, semi-bitter, semi-dry
Served: from a bottle bought at Sagasser in Haßfurt.
Impression: I was saddened to hear of brewery’s upcoming closure. So, I was glad a friend picked this gorgeous Festbier up for me. It’s on the dark side of deep golden with a massive off white head. There are considerable floral hops in the otherwise richly malty nose. The palate follows suit and the lingering finish is moreishly semi-dry with a perfect bitterness.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
