Fäßla Weizla Hefeweissbier
Brewery: Fäßla
Town: Bamberg
Style: Weizen 5%
Color: light honeycomb
Head: white, yeasty, chiffon-like
Nose: fruity, citrusy, yeasty
Body: medium
Palate: fruity, yeasty, nice sour quality
Finish: lingering, semi-dry
Served: from a bottle bought in Bamberg
Impression: Never thought of sampling the Fäßla Weizens but when looking for some new ones for Weisswurstfrühstück, I picked up both of theirs. The Dunkelweizen was a bit disappointing but the Fäßla Hefeweißier is gorgeous to behold with a massive chiffon like head. The nose and palate are fruity and yeasty, more in the citrus direction. It’s pleasantly refreshing and again weaker than most at 5%. It is maybe just a tad thinner on flavor than I’d like but I don’t find it as bothersome in this style as the in the Dunkelweizen. It’s again certainly serviceable with my Weisswurst. I’d possibly get this again and if you like a light fruity Weizen, you’ll probably like this one.
