Impression: This newish brewery was recently reopened after the death of the original owner. Brewed with three malts (Pilsner, Münchener and Caramel) and four hops (Saphir, Perle, Select and Hersbrucker), this is a Craft Beer take on a Kellerbier but certainly stays in the wide style range. Great looking pour with a formidable lasting head and an appealing fruity/hoppy nose. It’s quite balanced and at 24 IBU not overly bitter despite the ample hopping. The lingering finish is nicely dry and bitter. Some might find the bitterness level too high for the style but there are too many out there that could use a bit more so I’ll not complain. A friend who was going offered the excursion but the roads were icy. So, I didn’t take him up on the offer but was happy to get a bottle. Hope to go when it warms up.
