unfiltered golden beer in glass with text
Keesmann Zwickel Hell

Brewery: Keesmann
Town:
Bamberg
Style:
Zwickel
Color: unfiltered golden
Head:
white, thinning
Nose: malty, light cereal, biscuit, light hop
Body: medium

Palate: balanced, malty, slight grain, light hop, biscuit, hint of yeast

Finish: lingering, semi-bitter

Served:
on tap at the brewery

Impression: This is an unfiltered version of their Helles. It’s got a light haze to the golden hue due evidently to the long maturation lagering. It’s got a similar grainy nose with perhaps a hint of yeast. The malt forward palate has the same grain with a touch of both hops and yeast. There’s a pleasant chewy biscuit quality but I find it a touch sticky. I’d prefer more hops in the mix and there seems a slight metallic aspect. I guess in a brewery noted almost exclusively for their Pils, a maltier beer was what they were looking to offer and that they’ve done. I definitely prefer it to the regular Helles but I’d hate to see it push the Sternla out.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
