Impression: I quite liked the bottled Bock in 2023 so having it on tap was a priority in 2024. Their pub generally only has one beer on tap so I was planning on trying to get to their Anstich which was being held in a likely less than atmospheric sports club center. A random message from an acquaintance who was at the pub tipped me off as to their being a gravity barrel of it on that very day. This led to our going there last minute rather the venue. With just one look, it was obviously a different beer from the previous year as soon as it was presented. While still light amber, it was very much unfiltered with an ample lasting ivory head. The rich malty nose lacked the caramel and was replaced by a pleasant fruitiness which carried over into the palate. The lingering finish was semi-dry and just slightly bitter. Never got a sure answer on its strength but the bottle was 6.9% last year. All I can say is it was extremely easy to drink and I felt fine the next morning despite over imbibing. My favorite of 2024.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
