Griess St. Petrus Festbier

Brewery: Griess
Town:
Geisfeld
Style: Festbier

Color:
unfiltered orange/amber
Head: off-
white, creamy
Nose:
spicy hops, fruity
Body: medium
, low carbonation
Palate:
nicely balanced, richly malty, fruity, spicy hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter

Served: on tap at the Festbieranstich at the brewery

Impression: I missed this Festbier last year and it was a high priority beer for me in 2024. Served generally in a Krug but available with a deposit in a branded glass. It’s worth paying as the rich orange hue is stunning. There’s some fruit and spicy hops in the malty nose and the refreshing palate is more of the same. The lingering finish is moreishly dry and just bitter enough.

Next beer or back to the beer list.

    1. These beers are hard to get here. As far as I know, not bottled and only available first at the brewery, now at the Keller and soon at the Störenkeller in Bamberg. There will also be a limited amount sent to Manuele’s famous bar in Rome. It’s really only around for a few weeks so a very limited release. Oddly enough, the brewer told me that most people drink the Kellerbier even at the Anstich. You’re going to have to come back over.

  1. Well, as George Constanza says about the requirements for being a baseball tv commentator….”well, that isn’t really fair”. lol. Glad someone is able to enjoy them.
