Wagner (Kemmern) Vollbier
Brewery: Wagner-Bräu
Town: Kemmern
Style: Vollbier 5.2%
Color: unfiltered golden
Head: white, rocky, chiffon-like
Nose: malty, grainy, mown grass
Body: medium
Palate: malty, light grain, underlying grassy hops
Finish: lingering, dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought in the area
Impression: Gorgeous pour with massive chiffon like rocky head and both grain and mown grass in the nose. The balanced malty palate features more of the same before a lingering, dry semi-bitter finish. Definitely not a Munich Helles.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
