Frauendorfer Vollbier on tap
Brewery: Hetzel (Frauendorfer)
Town: Frauendorf
Style: Vollbier 4.9%
Color: amber
Head: white
Nose: faint grain
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, malty, underlying hops, light grain
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at the 14th Bierbrauerfest in Bad Staffelstein
Impression: I was happy to finally have some Frauendorfer beers on tap, though taking notes at a beer festival isn’t so easy. The Vollbier was balanced and malty with a lingering semi-dry, semi-bitter finish. This would have probably been better if I’d had it before the hoppier Kellerbier.
Next beer or back to the beer list.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
